U.S. stocks traded higher at the opening bell on Thursday as investors remained optimistic that a phase one trade deal, announced earlier this month, will soon be signed.

If the Nasdaq finishes higher on Thursday, it would record its 10th consecutive all-time closing high, and and 11th straight gain.
On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said officials from Beijing and Washington were in "close communication about detailed arrangements for the deal's signing and other follow-up work."
