U.S. stocks traded lower Monday morning after data on the U.S. manufacturing sector showed it continued to contract in November, overshadowing better-than-expected readings on Chinese factory activity released over the weekend.

Investors were also monitoring trade concerns after President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that the U.S. would restore tariffs on all steel and aluminum shipped into the U.S. from Brazil and Argentina.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 226 points, or 0.8%, to 27,825, while the S&P 500 index 27 points, or 0.9%, to 3,113. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 120 points or 1.4%, to 8,545.
