Dow set to mark longest win streak in a year after Trump's 'gesture of goodwill' to China

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were headed modestly higher Thursday morning, putting the blue-chip index on track to log its longest win streak in more than a year, after President Donald Trump late Wednesday said the U.S. would delay implementing higher tariffs on $250 billion of Chinese goods for two weeks as a œgesture of good will.
Dow futures were up 64 points, or 0.2%, at 27,208, and a seventh advance on Thursday would the best series of gains since an eight-session rally ended May 14, 2018, according to FactSet data. Meanwhile, futures for the S&P 500 index were up 5.75 points, or 0.2%, at 3,007.50, while the Nasdaq-100 were gaining 35 points, or 0.4%, at 7,913.50.

Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday helped by a cheaper yen against the dollar after the US Federal Reserve announced a rate cut.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.85 percent or 186.71 points at 22,147.42, while the broader Topix index was up 0.78 percent or 12.59 points at 1,619.21.
