Stocks rise after strong earnings from Coca-Cola and United Technologies

Stocks rose on Tuesday as investors cheered strong quarterly numbers from companies like Coca-Cola and United Technologies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 84 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also advanced 0.3% each.
Cardillo pointed out the S&P 500 is within striking distance of the key 3,000 level, adding that support around that level œcould set the stage for a rally that could take the index above 3,100.
Coca-Cola shares jumped more than 4% after the company posted earnings and revenue that topped analyst expectations. Coca-Cola pointed to a 4% rise in volume and transactions during the previous quarter in Coke™s namesake brand. Volume from its Zero Sugar line also grew by double digits.

Tokyo stocks closed higher on Friday, extending rallies on Wall Street after the US Federal Reserve unveiled another round of massive stimulus.
The Nikkei 225 index rose 0.79 percent, or 152.73 points, to 19,498.50 while the broader Topix index gained 0.92 percent, or 13.06 points, to 1,430.04.
