Stocks opened little changed on Monday, with pressure tied to continued worries over rising trade tensions between the U.S. and its major trading partners.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up around 7 points at 24,822, a gain of less than 0.1%, while the S&P 500 slipped less than 1 point to 2,752. The Nasdaq Composite was off less than 0.1% at 7,452.
Stocks fell sharply on Friday to cap an ugly May performance for equity markets that analysts blamed largely on an escalating trade fight between the U.S. and China and last week's decision by President Donald Trump to impose punitive tariffs on Mexican imports in an effort to stem the flow of migrants to the U.S. southern border.
