Stock-Market Futures Edge Lower as U.S. Threatens European Tariffs

U.S. stock benchmarks on Tuesday were seeing muted to slightly lower trade after the Trump administration took a step late Monday toward imposing tariffs on European imports, raising fresh worries about internationally tariffs as a resolution of a longstanding dispute with China was seen near.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat at 26,333, up by about a point, while those for the S&P 500 index were down 1.80 points. or less than 0.1%, at 2,896.50. Nasdaq-100 futures were slipping by 8.75 points, or 0.1%, at 7,614.75.
On Monday, the Dow dropped 83.97 points, or 0.3%, to 26,341.02, the S&P 500 rose 3.03 points, or 0.1%, to 2,895.77, tying its longest winning streak from October 2017. The tech-oriented Nasdaq Composite Index gained 15.19 points, or 0.2%, to 7,953.88.
