Dow jumps back above 26,000 as China data eases global growth worries

U.S. stocks traded higher Monday, the first day of the new quarter, as Wall Street scored an apparent boost from better-than-expected economic reports here and in China, momentarily allaying fears of flagging economic growth.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 236 points, or 0.9%, to 26,158, on pace for its best daily gain since Feb. 15, according to FactSet data. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 index climbed 23 points, or 0.8%, to 2,858, with the financial sector gaining 1.8% and the index™s industrials sector advancing 1.7%. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 70 points, or 0.9%, to 7,800.
