Hong Kong stocks start day with more gains

Hong Kong surged more than one percent in the opening minutes of business Wednesday, extending a rally into a fourth day on hopes for success in China-US trade talks.
The Hang Seng Index gained 1.40 percent, or 361.84 points, to 26,237.29.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 0.39 percent, or 9.96 points, to 2,536.42 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, put on 0.29 percent, or 3.75 points, to 1,303.64.

U.S. stocks opened little changed Tuesday as investors awaited remarks by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 13 points, or less than 0.1%, to 26,740, while the S&P 500 was down less than a point at 2,944. The Nasdaq Composite was off 0.1% at 7,997.

U.S. stock index futures were lower Tuesday morning, amid expectations of more dovish talk from the Federal Reserve.
At around 04:50 a.m. ET, Dow futures slipped 17 points, indicating a positive open of more than 9 points. Futures on the S&P and Nasdaq were both seen slightly lower.
