Dow Opens Lower With Triple-Digit Loss in Wake of Fed Meeting

Stocks opened slightly lower Thursday as key equity benchmarks struggled to rebound in the wake of the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest-rates by a quarter percentage point on Wednesday.

The S&P 500 was down 0.4% to 2,497. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 140 points, or 0.6%, to 23,180. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.4% to 6,611. Equities have come under pressure after the U.S. central bank hiked rates, but lowered its outlook for future increases.

Reports also said China would be condemned for espionage by the U.S. and its allies, potentially stoking trade tensions between Beijing and Washington. In company news, shares of Rite Aid Corp. jumped 9.7% after it beat earnings expectations.
