Shanghai stocks end with gains, Hang Seng slipped

Shanghai stocks rose more than one percent Tuesday as authorities pushed measures to make it easier for firms to perform a share buyback, while Donald Trump said he thought the US and China could eventually agree a trade deal.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 1.02 percent, or 25.95 points, to 2,568.05 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.94 percent, or 11.87 points, to 1,276.45.

But the Hang Seng Index slipped 0.91 percent, or 226.51 points, to 24,585.53.
