Most Asian stocks rose as investors assessed the latest news on U.S. trade policies.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index rose 0.3 percent to 166.81 as of 4:17 p.m. in Hong Kong, set for its fourth session of gains, after a Globe and Mail report that Canada was ready to make concessions to the Trump administration on the country™s dairy market in exchange for compromises in other areas.
Japan™s Topix index closed 0.5 percent higher. The New Zealand Exchange 50 Gross Index rose 1.6 percent to lead regional benchmarks as trading resumed after a halt on Tuesday. China™s Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.3 percent.
Taiex +1%, Kospi index +0.3%, Kospi 200 index +0.3%, S&P/ASX 200 +0.8%.
Straits Times Index -0.1%, Malaysia™s KLCI -0.5%, Philippines Stock Exchange PSEi Index -0.2%, Jakarta Composite +0.1%, Thailand™s SET Index little changed, Vietnam™s VN Index -0.7%.
