Stocks struggle for direction as trade uncertainty keeps investors on their toes
Friday, 29 June 2018 00:00 WIB | MARKET UPDATE |S & P 500Saham AS

U.S. stocks were slightly higher in morning trading on Thursday, though major indexes repeatedly moved between positive and negative territory as ongoing uncertainty surrounding trading policy held investors off on making big bets as the market nears the end of the month, quarter, and the first half of 2018.

The industrials and materials sectors ” two recent proxies for trade issues ” were among the biggest decliners of the day, though that weakness was offset by a 0.8% rise in technology stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 22 points to 24,133, a gain of 0.1%. The blue-chip average remains below its 200-day moving average, and it is coming off its lowest close since early May.

The S&P 500 rose 5 points to 2,704, a rise of 0.2%. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 25 points, or 0.4%, to 7,471.
