Japanese Shares Rebound as Autos, Banks Advance on Weaker Yen

Japanese shares reversed early declines as automakers and banks advanced on a pullback in the yen against the dollar.
The benchmark Topix index headed for a second day of gains. The yen weakened after the Bank of Japan cut purchases of five-to-10 year bonds for the first time since August. Global markets have been whipsawed this week by Italy™s political crisis and U.S. President Donald Trump™s plans for tariffs on imported goods.
Topix +0.5% to 1,755.48 as of midday break in Tokyo, erasing early loss of 0.4% Nikkei 225 +0.3% at 22,273.50. Yen -0.2% at 109.03 per dollar.
