U.S. stocks poised to retreat as White House and geopolitical tensions simmer

Dow futures on Wednesday traded lower, along with other index futures, pulling back from a broad rally in the previous session amid easing trade conflicts, as the market weighed the possibility of a U.S. military strike in Syria. Investors were watching developments in Special Counsel Robert Mueller™s investigation related to Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 181 points, or 0.7%, to 24,171, while S&P 500 futures slipped 22.10 points, or 0.8%, to 2,633.50. Nasdaq-100 futures declined 60.25 points, or 0.9%, to 6,564.
Optimism on the global trade front lifted the Dow Jones Industrial Average 428.90 points, or 1.8%, to 24,408.00 on Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index gained 1.7% and 2.1%, respectively.
