Tuesday, 6 February 2018 10:29 WIB | MARKET UPDATE |Nikkei 225TopixSaham Jepang

Japan's blue-chip Nikkei 225 Stock Average was poised to enter a correction as the nation's shares fell by the most since November 2016, following U.S. peers lower amid rising concern that inflation will force interest rates higher.

Topix fell 5% to 1,732.76 as of midday break in Tokyo; lowest level since Oct. 20, Nikkei 225 tumbled 5.3% to 21,487.87. Yen added 0.4% to 108.68 per dollar after gaining 1% Monday.

Electronics and chemicals companies were the biggest drags on the benchmark Topix, with volume more than double the 30-day average. A frantic selloff in U.S. equity markets Monday sent the S&P 500 Index and Dow Jones Industrial Average to their biggest losses since August 2011.
