Confiscated Iranian Tanker, Leave Gibraltar

An Iranian tanker left Gibraltar on Sunday (8/18), after agreeing there refused to attempt to detain him, but it was not clear where the ship was headed.

Data on surveillance of tanker sea traffic moved from Gibraltar. Both Iran and Gibraltar confirmed the movement.

Tehran says it is ready to send its fleet to escort the ship, 2.1 million barrels of light crude oil receive US $ 130 million, but Iran gives no indication where the ship will sail.

The ship, which was named Grace 1 but now changed to Iran by the name of Adrian Darya 1, was captured on July 4 by Gibraltar, which became British territory because the parties involved there believed that crude oil was heading for Syria, an ally of Iran and departing from European Union.

Initially, the ship used the Panama flag but after being replaced, the red, white and green Iranian flag was flown on the ship.

The seizure of the ship is one of several related in recent weeks that was passed from between Tehran and Western countries. Then in July, Iran seized the British-flagged oil tanker, Stena Impero, in the Persian Gulf and is still confiscating it.

The United States and Iran trade unmanned aircraft and Western countries accuse Tehran of carrying out other attacks on ships in the Gulf, where one fifth of world oil production passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

The incident was largely a result of the resignation of US President Donald Trump last year from the 2015 international nuclear agreement to curb Tehran's nuclear weapons program. Trump then returned the crippling sanctions, which had been approved by the Iranian economy.

Gibraltar authorities on Thursday (15/8) decided to release the Iranian tanker and said they had received a written guarantee from Tehran that the crude oil would not be sent to Syria.
