Stephen Hawking, a British physicist and author of the book 'A Brief History of Time', died at the age of 76, according to a family spokesman, Associated Press and AFP report.
"He is a great and great personal scientist whose work and legacy will live for years to come," Hawking's sons Lucy, Robert and Tim said in a statement.
The best theoretical physicist of his time, Hawking wrote with clear mystery about space, time and black holes in his book "A Brief History of Time." The book "A Brief History of Time" became one of the best-selling international books and catapulted Hawking into one of the most prominent scientists since Albert Einstein, according to the Associated Press.
Although it is suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS which is usually fatal, when he was 21 years old, Hawking surprised the doctors by surviving more than 50 years.
