Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said he would not resign if asked by President Donald Trump. Speaking next to his predecessors Janet Yellen and Ben Bernanke, Powell said at an American Economic Association conference in Atlanta that he does not yet have a meeting scheduled with Trump, as some reports have suggested is imminent.

Powell did say that previous presidents have met with Fed chairmen. Trump has frequently criticized Powell in both interviews and tweets over the Fed's interest-rate hikes.
