U.S. oil futures edged higher on Friday, but still marked their first weekly loss in three weeks as upbeat monthly U.S. jobs data failed to ease worries about a slowdown in energy demand.

August West Texas Intermediate oil rose 17 cents, or 0.3%, to settle at $57.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

It was up a second straight session, but posted a weekly loss of roughly 1.6%, following two consecutive weeks of gains.
