CURRENCIES | Indeks Dolar Euro
The euro was holding its ground Thursday against the U.S. dollar as investors awaited the outcome of a European Central Bank policy meeting that could see the institution renew or extend its program of long-term loans to eurozone banks in the face of a slowing economy.
The euro changed hands at $1.1309 versus the dollar in recent trade, unchanged from its level late Wednesday in New York. The shared currency has fallen for four straight days, however, declining 0.6% versus the U.S. unit over that stretch, amid growing expectations the ECB will strike a dovish stance at its policy statement at 7.45 a.m. Eastern Time.
The ICE U.S. Dollar Index last stood at 96.898.
Other major currencies saw slightly more movement compared the buck and the euro. The British pound slipped to $1.3137, versus $1.3169 late Wednesday.
The Japanese yen continued a to inch higher against the greenback, with one dollar buying ¥111.70, down 0.1%.
