U.S. oil prices settle higher for the session, down for the week

U.S. oil futures scored back-to-back session gains on Friday, as attacks on oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier raised risks to the global flow of crude oil. Prices, however, ended the week lower on persistent worries that trade tensions will lead to a slowdown in energy demand.

July West Texas Intermediate oil rose 23 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $52.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices fell 2.7% for the week, their third weekly loss in four weeks, according to FactSet data.
