Gold held its ground above the $1,480-an-ounce mark on Tuesday, consolidating in the wake of last week's œphase-one U.S.-China trade deal.
Gold for February delivery on Comex tacked on a dime, or 0.01%, to settle at $1,480.60 an ounce. March silver shed 4.1 cents, or 0.2%, to $17.072 an ounce, while March copper settled at $2.8135 a pound, up less than a penny, or 0.07%.
In other metals trade, March palladium fell 2.3% to $1,918.60 an ounce, while January platinum lost 0.2% at $929.80 an ounce.
