Japanese stocks fluctuated as investors tried to keep track of the latest developments on trade relations between the U.S. and China.
Japanese shares of telecommunications and electronics makers rose, while car producers and land transportation companies fell.

Gold edged lower on Wednesday to hover near a two-week low, as a stronger dollar and signs of easing Sino-U.S. friction dented demand for bullion ahead of the minutes from U.S. Federal Reserve™s latest meeting.
