The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite rose to record highs on Wednesday as tech shares outperformed while investors continued to weigh the coronavirus™ impact on the global economy.
The broad index traded 0.6% higher, breaking above a previous all-time high of 3,385.09, while the Nasdaq gained 0.9%. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 150 points, or 0.5%

U.K. inflation picked up for the first time in six months, boosted by the cost of energy, motor fuel and air fares.
Consumer prices rose a stronger-than-forecast 1.8% in January from a year earlier, the fastest since July, the Office for National Statistics said Wednesday. Core inflation picked up to 1.6%.
But the acceleration is likely to prove temporary, with inflation expected to fall back...

Oil prices rose more than 2% on Wednesday as demand worries eased with a slowing of new coronavirus cases in China and supply curtailed by a U.S. move to cut more Venezuelan crude from the market.
Brent crude was up $1.58, or 2.7%, to trade at $59.33 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude gained $1.24, or 2.38%, to settle at $53.29 per barrel.
